ENCHANTED BRIDES ~ SPRING / SUMMER 2013

happened to be built in the 1920's and
reflected the couple's love of Art Deco
Style.
When it came to the wedding's style,
we drew our inspiration from the couple's
new apartment that they had been deco-
rating together. I noticed that they had a
very modern yet eclectic sense of taste
such as white furniture, ghost chairs,
some unique wooden accent pieces, and
plenty of interesting artwork. Their ap-
preciation for artwork was so evident that
I knew we had to somehow incorporate
art into their wedding. So ultimately my
goal was to transform Comber Hall into
an ultra modern artistic space while still
paying tribute to the old world art deco
charm of circa 1920.
We did all of this first by creating a
black and white checkered dance floor.
This was an inspiration from taking note
of the architecture from Old Hollywood
movies. Long rectangular tables, square
tables, two different table linens, and dif-
ferent centerpieces filled the room. The
first centerpieces were white frames with
calla lilies intertwined in them to create
almost a piece of artwork in and of itself
and long taper candles. On the other ta-
bles, we had large callas all bunched to-
gether to create that sleek modern look.
We also accented the tables with tall Alo-
casia palm leaves accented with mirrored
vases that were drawn from inspiration
from her custom wedding gown.
For their royal table, we decided to
have some fun with the place cards by
ordering kangaroo shaped escort cards
with hand calligraphy since the couple
would be honeymooning in Australia.
The wedding favors were also very spe-
cial to the couple as both of the families
love coffee. Guests took home a custom-
ized Espresso cup with the phrase: "Que
Rico" which in Spanish means "so deli-
cious" and "Rico" also happened to be
the groom's last name. It was a fun play
on words. Inside the espresso cups were
mini guava cup cakes. This was a great
touch to truly personalizing the wedding
for them. At the conclusion of the wed-
ding, we surprised them drawing on their
love of the Brazilian culture and incorpo-
rated a "Hora Loca" complete with Brazil-
ian dancers and stilt walkers.
By taking the things you love: styles,
friends, family and passions, any bride
can achieve a truly beautiful and person-
alize wedding.
