called her mom afterwards and told her she had the feeling
she met the one. Needless to say, they have been together ever
since!
Unfortunately, the future saw months apart for the couple that
both were assigned to different ships and they decided they
should try to make a "go of it" on land. While Lauri returned
to her home in Canada, Brian settled in Galveston, TX. Brian
couldn't wait any longer and on one of Lauri's trips to Texas, he
asked her to spend the rest of her life with him surrounded by
rose petals. She said, "Absolutely!"
The couple immediately knew they wanted to get married
in the place they hope to one day call home- The Florida Keys!
With a "Beach Glam Vibe" for their wedding, they mixed mod-
ern styles with beachy elements. From colors of cream and blue
to vases filled with white flowers, the entire reception space was
a dream.
A sweet décor touch was Lauri's bouquet, made by Brian.
Brian used manila line and nautical twine with a monkey's fist
knot that held sands from the Keys, Galveston, and from the
beach where they had their first date, all topped off with an or-
chid.
The couple loved incorporating their family into the details,
like Lauri's engagement ring that was made using a portion of
the gold from her Grandparents' wedding bands who were mar-
ried for over 50 years! The couple wanted to match the color for
their wedding bands as well.
Guests enjoyed delicious hors d'oeuvres of bacon-wrapped
scallops and conch fritters to name a few. They also sipped on
the couple's signature cocktail- a Blueberry Mojito! Dinner was
of course a delicious mix of seafood from the ocean guests
dined next to: Seafood Bisque, Lobster Grilled Cheese, Key
Lime Cheese Cake, and Wedding Cake. Delightful!
Thinking back to when the couple had their first look, Brian
remembers:
"She was far and away the most beautiful person I had ever
seen and I can't wait to see what the future would hold for us"
And Lauri? "I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with this
man, I am so lucky to have found somebody so amazing"
With all of these sweet touches, I don't doubt their marriage
will be even sweeter!
