work? To start, Karen meets with the
mother/client to best determine the de-
sign possibilities and the strengths of her
figure. They always ask to see the client's
favorite item in their closet, what makes
them feel their most beautiful. I love this!
This is the perfect way to determine a
woman's personal style.
Consulting with Karen, the client picks
colors that best suit her complexion,
breathable fabrics to ensure comfort the
whole day, and shape options that brings
out the things she loves about her body.
All while staying cohesive with the entire
wedding party!
When considering your Mother of the
Bride or Groom dress, think about what
would make you feel your best. For exam-
ple, breathable fabrics for those dreaded
hot flashes. Or quarter-length sleeves to
accentuate your arms but still keep that
extra stuff you may have and don't want to
show hidden. Boning and bra structures
built in allow for a lift in the bust line, a
cinch in the waist, and a flattening of the
stomach.
When designing your dress, don't for-
get you deserve a gorgeous gown for this
special day. Take some time away from
all the wedding planning to find a dress
that fits your sense of style, but is also age
and event appropriate. This is a celebra-
tion for you too! When you work with a tal-
ented custom designer, you won't have to
worry about upstaging the bride.
When I asked Karen what she thought
was most important about the process
of designing the Mother's dress, her re-
sponse was:
"The single most important purchase
that the Mother of the Bride or Groom will
make is their dress for one of the most im-
portant events of their life: their children's
wedding day!"
Having a dress custom made by Kar-
en Hendrix will be a dress you'll wear
over and over again. Contact Karen today

tation and feel as beautiful as you did on
