ENCHANTED BRIDES ~ FALL 2013 / WINTER 2014
Details, Details, Details
Creating a Dream
The
most important thing for a
planner in designing a wedding is to first
listen to the bride. Every bride has her
dream in mind, and although it is our
job to make it happen, it is also the job
of the planner to understand the reality of
the execution of the dream. I love that I
am forced to think "outside" the box and
create a dream that does work. Venues,
weather, and budget can all be deterrents
in creating a bride's dream. So, it is im-
portant to take every detail into play and
propose the dream in a way that will be
successful for the bride's special day.
Alexis and Joey wanted a wedding
that was sophisticated, elegant, exclusive,
and unique. The thought and overall de-
tail that the couple envisioned for their
special day were nothing short of flaw-
less. It all began with a pre-cocktail hour
before the ceremony for guests to gather
and listen to a string quartet and enjoy the
welcome cocktail, a Kir Royale with fresh
raspberries. The wedding took place at
the Southernmost House in Key West. The
house is elegantly poised on the famous
Duval Street, and it is as opulent as it once
was more than a century ago. Steeped in
a rich history, this jewel was the perfect
place to host this elegant affair.
The ceremony took place on the he-
licopter pad with the Atlantic Ocean as
the backdrop. Avant Gardens designed
a beautiful arch of curly willow, white hy-
drangeas, roses, ranunculus, and white
anemones. The helicopter pad was lined
with beautiful white runners for the bridal
party to enter and stand on throughout
the ceremony. The aisle was also decorat-
ed with fresh white floral pomanders. The
bride had provided reserved signs to be
tied onto each of the chairs for close fam-
ily and friends.
After Alexis and Joey were married,
guests were greeted with a custom wel-
come sign and white chiffon drapery that
softened the Southernmost House while
also adding a heightened feeling of gran-
deur to the space. Each of the bride and
groom's friends and family then received
his or her escort card from a table that
was covered with beautiful metallic linen
with a vintage tulle overlay.
A beautiful scene awaited Alexis and
Joey at the reception. White petal linens
covered each table while friends and
family sat and awaited the couple in
mahogany chiavari chairs. Guests also
gathered on the lounge furniture near
the bar. Many were sipping on the Bride
