ENCHANTED BRIDES ~ FALL 2013 / WINTER 2014

was exciting to walk them through the hotel and the areas where
the wedding was to take place and see their eyes light up as
it was everything they remembered and more." Michelle took
care of every last detail, complete with setting up for the big day
and coordinating all the activities.
The color palette for the poolside affair was aqua and or-
ange. "We chose fonts for our stationery suite that tied in with
the Art Deco backdrop. Des and I met in a club, so we felt it
fitting that we end our wedding with a bang a party to let your
hair down for all our friends," Linda says. "Various pieces of the
wedding tied to our lives so we could introduce people to a fla-
vor of us. The name cards resembled our London `Oyster' tran-
sit cards to transport people to their tables. Table names were
the Underground stops that were personal to us like where we
first met or where we had our first date. Our centerpieces had
roses as they were favorites of my late mother. Our party favors
were individual key lime pie tarts because of their local flavor. .
. Little things like that we did throughout to make people feel it
was from us."
Linda and Des loved hosting their wedding in South Beach
because it afforded that "exotic and dreamlike feel, yet it was
still a very practical place that could be a good scene for other
activities, entertainment for guests, and shopping for last-minute
things or emergencies." They treated their guests with welcome
bags upon arrival, complete with an itinerary of the weekend's
events, some snacks, water, and Advil "They were thanking me
throughout the weekend! We felt that as guests made such big
efforts to carve out time and money to come spend the week-
end with us, we wanted to make things effortless as possible for
them when they arrived."
Linda's advice for brides planning a destination wedding is
spot-on: "Make sure you check with your closest friends and
family to be sure of timing and place before you commit to a
date. Try to make sure to see the venue or know the area so
you're not surprised with what you're getting." She also advises
couples to make a wedding website early in the planning pro-
cess to give guests ideas of things to do in the area. "We added
photos of ourselves and anecdotal stories that were really fun for
all to see," she says of their site.
Des and Linda were thrilled to have 65 of their closest friends
and family present for their special day. "It was so nice to see
our loved ones from all over the world in, and unite different
cultures Irish, British, the UK, Vietnamese, and American to
share together over such a great occasion. It was practically
overwhelming at times to feel such love and joy in one space.
Really such a once-in-a-lifetime treasure!"
