: I have a great budget.
Should I spend more of my bud-
get on the décor and reception
or on photography?
A
: Budget allocation is almost
as important as the budget itself.
Once our clients have determined
a comfortable budget, one of our
most important jobs as planners
is assisting them with budget allo-
cation. It is important to allocate
your budget according to your
preferences, and a planner can
help you do so without visually
affecting the other areas of your
wedding. For the majority of wed-
dings the venue / food and bever-
age will be the largest portion of
your budget. After that, your pref-
erences should dictate what areas
you spend the remaining portions
of your budget. Don't be afraid to
be selfish. If having a high impact
setting for your guests is impor-
tant to you, then spend more on
décor. If preserving the memory of
your big day in an artistic or visu-
ally striking manor is more impor-
tant to you, then spend more on
